The Oil Industry Sees $100 Crude Coming with the IMO 2020 Rule (March 18, 2019)

 

The American Petroleum Institute, the Independent Petroleum Association of America, and American fuel and petrochemical manufacturers, along with several refining companies and a number of state petroleum associations, have combined to form the Coalition for American Energy Security (CAES). The group’s stated purpose is to encourage the United States to adhere to the scheduled implementation of the International Maritime Organization’s requirement for ships to reduce sulfur emissions by eighty percent effective on January 1, 2020. The CAES members’ goal is to have the IMO 2020 implementation go forward and then benefit from the resulting crude and product price increases likely to occur.
