Dollar Weakness: Implications for Oil (January 22, 2018)

 

The dollar has weakened over the last year. The lower exchange rate will have implications for energy markets. The problems could be serious, especially for OPEC because the US fracking boom is priced in dollars. Dollar weakness could lead OPEC countries to seek higher dollar prices. Strong dollar prices that would help oil exporters will further fuel the coming tidal wave of US oil production.
