Distillate/Diesel: A Spike in the Offing? (July 30, 2018)

Distillate markets are getting tight. From our perspective, the distillate market seems to be on the verge of a major price hike. Prices may be fifty percent higher by March 2019. If they are, Brent will trade around $110 per barrel, assuming light sweet crude prices follow distillate prices, as they usually do. The higher prices will lay a foundation for further large price increases between March and December 2019 as the IMO marine fuel sulfur rule "drop-dead day" moves closer.
