China: Crude Price Stabilizer, Diesel Destroyer (August 3, 2026)

 

Few policymakers understand that the current oil market disruption is a diesel crisis. China’s actions have once again stabilized crude oil prices. However, the country has no interest in doing the same for soaring diesel prices brought on by the Ukraine-Russia conflict because high prices boost its exports of critical renewable energy capital goods to nations devastated by diesel shortages.
