AI Capital Demands: Starving Oil and Gas Investment (June 22, 2026) 

 

Energy executives are still digesting the consequences of the United States and Iran's agreement to end hostilities, announced on June 14. Some may believe the deal may be the most important development for the industry in 2026, assuming it holds. They may be correct. However, Wharton School professor Mohamed El-Erian suggested last week that the industry may face a more serious and growing threat: a capital constraint.[i]
