Will the Real WTI Please Stand Up? (November 6, 2017)

 

The Argus WTI Houston benchmark should not be dismissed as just one of those interesting but minor price indices. It is quickly becoming important as measured by data from CME and ICE. Indeed, the Houston WTI price today is a more representative measure of US crude prices. It also follows the Brent price closely. It may be a superior benchmark to Brent and it may displace Brent in time.
