Santayanan Moments (November 17, 2014)

 

Spanish philosopher George Santayana famously warned that "those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." The point is that history is cyclical. Depending on how you see it, we are now making our second, third, or fourth circuit of the oil price track. This week we discuss some prominent "Santayanan moments" where memories have failed and history seems to recurring. The first one is the oil price collapse. The second moment relates to energy policy. The third Santayanan moment belongs to Canada.
