Publications: Notes at the Margin

The American Decade, Perhaps the American Half Century: Maybe Not (November 25, 2013)

In the October 2013 issue of The Petroleum Economics Monthly, we wrote about the economic advantages the United States will enjoy for the next ten, possibly even forty years. The positive views offered there have been tempered somewhat by the Obama administration’s recent actions. A recent letter from the Office of the US Comptroller of the Currency to banks suggests that financial institutions are being "encouraged" to loan more to alternative energy projects. This may imply increasing government efforts to discourage funding for the independent producers successfully expanding US oil and gas output. This week's Notes at the Margin provides the details and discusses the implications.
