American Energy Independence Day: We Won the Lottery (August 26, 2013)

 

The United States will be completely independent from imported oil in forty-three months if present trends continue. This suggests that February 1, 2016, should be designated “American Energy Independence Day.” At that moment, the United States’ net crude and product imports, excluding trade in crude petroleum with Mexico and Canada, will fall to zero. The actual date could come as early as the spring or summer of 2015. This week's report discusses the details and the implications of coming energy independence for the United States.
